Which type of chocolate melts faster, white or dark?

by Jerrilyn Peterson
(Lake Stevens WA)

Since dark clothes make you hotter than lighter colored clothes do, I think that dark chocolate would melt faster than white chocolate.

Hi Jerrilyn,

Interesting question and observation. :)

However, I believe white chocolate actually melts faster as it has a very low burning point.

It's not easy to melt white chocolate in the microwave like you can with milk or dark chocolate. You really need to melt it over a double boiler being very careful not to get even a drip of water or moisture in it.

Don't let the bottom of the bowl touch the simmering water and keep the water only lightly simmering.

I prefer milk and dark chocolate to white chocolate, but it can be so lovely as a decorative touch. It's well worth using!

I prefer using dark chocolate!

I prefer using dark chocolate for taste reasons and ease of melting! For me, white chocolate was too hard to work with, but if you have patience it's worth it!
Good luck, post pics!

dark chocolate!

i prefer dark because it has less sugar and dark thing tend to get hotter. for example, how black cars get hotter than white cars.
