Valentine Truffle Hearts

heart shaped truffles For a special decadent delight, prepare a batch of Valentine truffle hearts to treat your favorite Valentine this year. This simple recipe is so delicious but really a winner when it comes to homemade chocolate valentine candy.

You can really use most any truffle recipe and adapt it to the valentine theme by making heart shaped truffles, but I've included a really yummy recipe here to get you started.

Truffle Hearts Recipe

1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup (4 ounces) cream cheese
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Combine powdered sugar, cream cheese, cocoa powder, and nuts, stirring until well mixed. Press mixture onto waxed paper surface and roll to about 1/2" thickness.
Using a heart shaped candy cutter or small cookie cutter, cut out shapes.
Hearts can be dipped in tempered chocolate, or rolled in powdered sugar or cocoa powder. Another idea is to use valentine cake decorations or sprinkles to dress up your truffles.

Place finished truffles in valentine paper candy cups or present in a heart shaped box or candy dish. Your sweetheart will love these special chocolate gems.
