Homemade Valentine Box Idea for Chocolates

Homemade Valentine Box Idea for Chocolates

Ever since I heard about your contest I have been secretly working on a project for a Valentine box idea when my hubby is out of the house. I don't think he will check online to see what I have been making soon. I hope he won't anyway! I want to surprise him with this gift idea on Valentine's Day.

When I was little, I remember my Dad bringing home a beautiful heart shaped box with chocolates in it, one each for my sister and I. It made us feel so special and as you can tell, I never forgot that sweet gift.

I wondered if I could recreate that idea for my husband? Experiments with firm card stock and designer series paper followed and voila - a little chocolate favour Valentine box idea was born.

I handmade the flowers and the twisted embellishment, too, with papercraft punches and a wooden skewer. The ribbon is organza. Isn't it beautiful?

After I made it, I filled the little box with chocolate eclairs.

I hope I don't eat the eclairs all myself before Valentine's Day, but if I do it might give me a chance to try out one of your yummy recipes. I could put them in the box with little cupcake papers to hold them.

If anyone else wants to make one of these, I wrote some instructions for them at PaperCraftCentral.com

I hope you get lots of entries for your contest, Angie.

Hugs
Susan

Hi Susan,

What a lovely hand made Valentine box idea for your hubby. Of course, I love the heart shape, too, as it brings back my own fond memories of childhood and chocolates! :)

No wonder I'm a chocolate addict. I started at a young age, so I guess I come by it naturally.

You really did a beautiful job and I'm sure Colin will love it. I say go ahead and eat the eclairs and then whip up a batch of homemade chocolate truffles to fill the box for February 14. I'll bet he'll like those even better!

Happy Valentine's Day! Thanks for entering the contest.

Blessings,
Angie

No Chocolate For Valentines Day :( NEW
by: Angie

Your bracelet bead sounds lovely and will be a lasting reminder of the special day.

I think this must be the first year that I ate NO chocolate for Valentine's Day! Can you believe it? Me??? :)

Well, I've been on a strict 40 day diet, so I "received" chocolate, but I haven't even been able to have nibble because of this diet.

Don gave me a couple of bags of Hershey's kisses (American candy that's hard to come by over here), and I'm saving them up in anticipation of enjoying them (in moderation) when the diet is done. ;)

Hugs back!
Angie

Valentine's Day
by: Susan

Hi Angie

The chocolate truffles sure were a hit with everyone who had one. No, I got no chocolate myself, but hubby did buy me a lovely bead to go on a bracelet I have. It has hearts on it too so it is a special Valentine's Day one to me :)

I hope you received a lovely treat as well.

Hugs
Susan
