Store Homemade Chocolate

by SUSHMA
(INDIA)

How long can I store homemade chocolate? How do I know when the chocolate I have made is unfit for eating? How do I store them?

I make chocolates at home and supply on orders. At times some chocolates are left with me.

Hi Sushma,

To know how long you can store homemade chocolate, you need to know what type of chocolate candy you are dealing with.

Many types of chocolate candy have a very long shelf life if kept at moderate temperatures. Temperature fluctuations and moisture are the two things that really affect chocolate negatively.

Even then, most chocolate is still quite edible even though less attractive. I've rarely tried a chocolate that was unfit for eating! :)

If you are using other ingredients in making your chocolate candy, like real cream, etc., that would "spoil," you have to be much more careful in dealing with your shelf life.

All the best,
Angie
