Saving Money On Easter Baskets

by Angela Miller
(Houston, TX, USA)

A fun way to recycle and save money on Easter Baskets!

Being environmentally friendly has become very popular in recent years. Saving money has become a necessity for most of us. This Easter craft idea combines the best of both and makes a great result.

It's really very easy. Instead of spending money buying colored Easter grass made out of plastic or paper for the children's Easter baskets this year, you can make your own!

Many people have paper shredders these days for privacy and security issues. If you don't have one yourself, you can usually pick them up for about $10 or $15 and it will be a good long-term investment. Barring that, check at your place of work, I'm sure they'll let you use theirs for a couple of minutes. :)

Save up some paper that needs to be shredded - colored paper is obviously going to be more appealing. You can even use an old magazine to get multi-colors if you have one on hand.

Another option is to have the kids color some paper with crayons or markers and make their own Easter grass by running their artwork through the paper shredder (supervise the little ones, of course).

This shows kids a creative fun way to reuse recycled paper! What a lovely colorful homemade free addition to any Easter basket!

Hi Angela,

Great money saving idea for making Easter baskets this year. Thanks for taking the time to tell us about it.

I usually have a bit of colored paper lying about, and I guess construction paper would work also.

This would be a good option for filling gift baskets or gift bags all year round and saving a few dollars.

Another great tip!
Thanks again,
Angie
