Homemade Puppy Chow Snack

Homemade Puppy Chow Snack

This recipe for Puppy Chow came from my grandmother. I remember growing up asking her to make it whenever I was there. I've used this recipe with parties and school events for my children.

What you need:
  • 1 c. peanut butter
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 bag chocolate chips
  • chex cereal
  • 2 c. powdered sugar
  • 2/3 c. powdered milk

  1. Melt the first 3 ingredients then stir through the cereal or shake all together in paper bag.

  2. Then combine the powdered sugar and powdered in a bag and add the cereal mixture and give it a good shake until it is well coated.

  3. When it's all mixed, lay on wax paper and let stand till ready to serve.

You can make it a cute and fun presentation by serving it up in a new plastic dog food bowl!

Hi Tasha,

I love that you added this recipe! I've tasted this treat at a party, but I never actually knew the details of how to make Puppy Chow.

Now that I see how easy it is, I've got no excuses. I'll be visiting my nieces and nephews soon and I think this is just the recipe to make with them.

You didn't say specifically, but I'm guessing this would make a decent sized batch. Do you use a whole box of Chex mix?

I suppose I could experiment to get the right proportions, but if you can provide that detail it will save most of us the hassle. :)

Thanks again for sharing this yummy recipe for kids (and big kids like me!).

Blessings,
Angie
