Peanut Free Carob?

by Tami Killam
(Seekonk)

Where can I find Peanut Free Carob?

Do you know where you can buy carob powder or coating for melting or bars that do not have a peanut or tree nut warning on them?

Do you know where you can buy the carob pods to make carob yourself?

Hi Tami,

That's a very good question! I've put in a request to my friends at Candyland Crafts to find out if there carob coating is peanut free. I'll let you know when I hear back from them.

Do you have a local health food store? That's where I'd look first for the carob pods. I really don't know where else to tell you, but maybe some other carob lovers will be able to answer your question.

Peanut Free Carob
by: Angie

Hi Tami,

I got an answer back from my friends at Candyland Crafts. They checked with their own supplier (since it wasn't marked either way on the label packaging) and this was the final response received....

"I was told that the carob is manufactured at a facility that also manufactures products that contain peanut components. The system that uses peanut products is physically isolated from all other manufacturing systems to minimize cross contamination."

I hope this helps.

I have the same need! Please help!

I also can't have tree-nuts and peanuts, due to my food allergies. I can't have chocolate either, as 3 diff. Dr.'s have told me to "stay away from it!" (caffeine) Before I was allergic to nuts, I used to buy carob, years ago, but like yourself, have not been able to find a tree-nut and peanut-free source. (I've only checked under "carob" though, not "carob powder". I think our best bet might be to call each individual manufacturer of carob that we come across, to ask them individually if their products are produced with nuts. Carob *powder* is closer to its' natural form, so that's diff. from a "candy"-manufacturing plant that's bound to have nuts :p also. PLEASE post a response, if you can, if you are able to find any and I will too, ok? Thank you! At least we have Peanut Free Planet and Vermont Nut Free Candy companies, (& more?) in the meantime, coming up with new nut-free products all the time! Keep up the good fight! Blessings!
