Peanut Butter Brownie Recipe

peanut butter brownie recipe

Are you searching for a simple peanut butter brownie recipe? Well look no more!

I have a recipe for peanut butter brownies that is guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth.

How do I know? This peanut butter brownie recipe is one that the women in my family have been using for generations and we haven't had one complaint yet.

Of course we've all been too busy eating them to complain!

An important thing to remember when making these sweet and salty treats is the quality of peanut butter you use.

I was always told to use the same brand/variety of peanut butter that you use in your everyday life for this recipe because obviously you are happy with that kind.

Depending on how crunchy you want your brownies to be, you can choose to use smooth or chunky peanut butter.

For this basic recipe, I'm going to stick with the smooth, just remember that you can change it up to make your own creative peanut butter brownies.

My Family Recipe For Peanut Butter Brownies

First you will need to pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees and to get it out of the way grease your 9” baking dish with a little butter so it's good to go.

For this recipe you will need:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg (lightly beaten)
  • 2 Tbs of melted butter
  • 1/4 cup of whole milk
  • 2/3 cup of peanut butter
  • 1 square of semi-sweet chocolate

I was always told that it very important to keep your measurements very exact especially when it comes to baking and this peanut butter brownie recipe is no exception.

If you are consistent with your measurements and are gentle when mixing them, it will help to keep your brownies from becoming too heavy.

  1. To start, gently combine your dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl, including your flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

  2. In separate bowl mix in the beaten eggs and the butter, then combine the chocolate and the peanut butter.

  3. Slowly fold the dry mixture into the peanut butter, chocolate goodness until smooth, then slowly whisk in the milk, constantly stirring for even consistency.

  4. I've never used a mixer, standing or hand, for this recipe because I like to think I'm getting an arm workout before gorging on some brownies! :~)

  5. Spread evenly into your greased baking dish and bake in the oven for approximately 20 minutes. Make sure to check the brownies after 15 minutes because you don't want these tasty treats to burn.

These peanut butter brownies are best if eaten warm because there is just something about the way the creamy peanut butter melts in your mouth with that gooey chocolate.

If after a couple days you have some of these brownie left over (yeah right!) a good tip is cutting the remaining brownies into mini squares (1inch or less) and sticking them in the freezer. These mini treats are great to pull out for the kids on a long car ride or to add to your plain ice cream for that little extra sweetness.

I hope you enjoy these brownies the way my family and I have been doing for years!
