Does anyone know the mint chocolate meltaways candy recipe?

I have been looking all over the net for weeks and cannot find one recipe. I can be reached at lister53214 @ yahoo.com

Thanks in advance!

Hi Alan,

I suppose you are referring to a recipe that would give you a result like the chocolate mint meltaway candy from Fannie May Candies?

I've never seen a recipe for that particular candy. It's probably a deep dark secret. :-) However, I've located a recipe for mint chocolates that you can experiment with and see if it will suit your taste buds.

Chocolate Mint Candy

  • 2 packages of chocolate chips (semi-sweet & milk chocolate)
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. mint extract (or more to taste)
  • Additional chocolate for dipping/coating - You can use chocolate chips for this or your favorite good quality chocolate.

  1. Melt chocolate chips and butter over low heat or double boiler stirring until melted.

  2. Remove from heat and add sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, and mint extract; combine well.

  3. Pour into 9x13 inch pan and allow to cool. Cut into cubes.

  4. Melt additional chocolate and dip each cube in the melted chocolate and place on waxed paper lined tray to set.

Let me know how this turns out for you!

If anyone else has a chocolate mint candy recipe that might help Alan out, please add it here!

Chocolate Chips and Sweetened Condensed Milk Ratio NEW
by: Angie from chocolate-candy-mall.com

Yikes! They changed the sizes again?

Okay, let me think. Usually chocolate chips come in 12 ounce bags (or used to), which is generally about 2 cups of chocolate chips. So, the above mint chocolate meltaways candy recipe would require 4 cups of chocolate chips.

As for the sweetened condensed milk, I'm guessing that recipe was devised with the 14 ounce size can. What size is the can you've got? I think you'll do fine with about 1 1/2 cups of sweetened condensed milk. I doubt a little less or a little more will make a devastating difference either way.

Give it a try and let us know how it turns out. You can then tell us the exact measurements you used so others who come after you will know. ;)

Blessings,
Angie

It seems that they are always changing the size of packages of chocolate chips, and now the sweetened condensed milk can is smaller. Can you help me with amounts of each? Thanks!

Meltaway recipe
by: Lorax

I finally found a mint meltaway recipe in the new book, Chocolates and Confections by Peter Grewling.I'm not sure if it is legal to copy that recipe here but the book is available at our local library and can be purchased on Amazon. It calls for deodorized coconut which I spent two days looking for and couldn't find. Finally a nice man at a health food store told me the coconut oil made for popping corn has no odor. I found that in my local grocery store next to the popcorn.

Meltaway Candy
by: Anita

The closest I've been able to come to the meltaways are as follows:

1 lb. white candy coating [almond bark]
1 cup peanut butter [flavor can be adjusted]
1 cup crushed walnuts [I don't use]

Melt coating-stir until smooth, must stir constantly. Remove from heat, stir in peanut butter & walnuts [if using]
This is the original recipe, I've adjusted it many different ways. After melting coating, I usually melt [your choice] chips & either stir into melted coating or spread coating in greased pan [I use cookie sheet w/lip & line w/ parchment paper]swirl in additional flavor.Chill
until firm. Turn out & cut into pieces. ENJOY
