Making Candy Layers Stick Together?

I need to know how to get two candy layers to stick together?
When I make a mint bark with a layer of white and a layer of dark chocolate, and then break it into pieces after it is chilled, the layers come apart.
This also happens when I make the toffee. The chocolate will not stay adhered to the toffee layer?
What causes this?
Thanks!
Hi Maureen,
Have you tried breaking up the candy BEFORE you chill it? I think chilling the candy and chocolate is what is causing the separation.
The reason I say this is because I happen to love Heath Bars. :-) I really love to pop them into the fridge or freezer for a while before eating them.
When I take the Heath Bar out of the freezer and break it or bite into it, the chocolate layer often separates from the toffee layer. It's still completely yummy, but it does happen.
Try breaking up the candy first and then chilling it. Or, if you are chilling it in order to set the chocolate, let it return to room temperature before breaking it.
Let me know how it works out for you.
Anyone else have any ideas about this???
