Make Chocolate Covered Marshmallows with a Chocolate Bar?

by Michelle
(Vestal, NY)

Can I use a chocolate bar and melt it then cover marshmallows?

Hi Michelle,

Absolutely! You can easily make chocolate covered marshmallows with a chocolate bar.

You can even melt the chocolate in the microwave if you like. Just break the candy bar in pieces and put it in a microwave safe dish.

Only heat for 30 seconds at a time and stir at the end of every 30 seconds. It only takes a minute or two, depending on how much chocolate you are using.

A narrow and deep container like a big mug would work great for dipping marshmallows, I think.

Just put the marshmallows on skewers, toothpicks, or lollipop sticks and dip away!

Place the chocolate dipped marshmallows on a piece of waxed paper to set. You CAN chill them if you're in a hurry, but don't leave them in too long or they may start to "bloom" (change color).

If you want to decorate your marshmallows, roll them in chopped nuts, crushed toffee bits, coconut, sprinkles, colored sugar, crushed cookies or some other yummy concoction, while the chocolate is still wet.

Let me know how your chocolate covered marshmallows with a chocolate bar adventure turns out!

Angie

You can cover your chocolate covered marshmallows with cellophane party favor wraps and then store them in a cool dry place (moderate temperature) away from any strong smells.

Storing chocolate covered marshmallows properly should keep them for at least a couple of weeks, maybe even longer.
