How To Thin Chocolate

Does anyone know how to thin chocolate?

My white chocolate is too thick to dip for my chocolate covered pretzels. What can I thin it out with?

Hi Chris,

There are different things you can try to thin out your chocolate.

One of the easiest ways to thin chocolate is to add a tablespoon of Crisco (or other brand shortening) to the chocolate as you are melting. You can add a bit more if you need to, depending on how much chocolate you are melting.

Another option that serious candy makers use is Paramount Crystals. They cost less than $2 and don't ruin the taste of the chocolate as some shortenings might do.

I hope your chocolate covered pretzels turn out fabulous!

Angie

Thin Out Chocolate

The only problem with using the evaporated milk is that it won't set properly if you are wanting to then make chocolate covered pretzels or something similar.

Evaporated milk is definitely great in fudge, but you are then heating it, along with sugar, etc., which changes the dynamics entirely.

For simple thinning of chocolate, your best bet is the Paramount Crystals.

thin out your chocolate with evaporated milk

When my Mom made Homemade Fudge,, she would use evaporated milk out of the can ..Maybe you can use that to thin it out... Fudge tasted awesome, so I dont think it will affect the flavor, I think it makes it sweeter tasting... Good Luck
