How Much Chocolate Do I Buy?

by Melissa
(West Palm Beach, FL)

Hi, I am making chocolate lollipops (Wilton mold) for my friend's baby shower, and I need to know how much chocolate do I buy (wafers) so that I have enough to make 35 lollipops.

Thanks for your time in advance.

Hi Melissa,

How sweet of you to take on the task of making the baby shower lollipop favors for your friend's special day.

Generally, the answer to the question of how much chocolate to buy is determined not only by the number of molds you need to fill, but also the size of them.

I'm going to assume that your lollipop mold is a standard/average size. If that is the case, each mold will take about 1 ounce of chocolate.

So, if you need 35 lollipops, you'll need a minimum of 35 ounces of chocolate. Of course, there are 16 ounces in a pound, so you'd need a little over 2 pounds.

Personally, I'd get 3 pounds so that you have a little "wiggle room." Let's face it, extra chocolate isn't going to go to waste, now is it?! :)

I hope you'll take some photos of your finished lollipop shower favors and add them here for all of us to ooh and aah over!

Blessings,
Angie
