How many pounds of melting wafers...

How many pounds of melting wafers should I need to make about 200 chocolate covered pretzel rods?

I'm throwing a baby shower and wanted to make chocolate covered pretzel rods and mini chocolate thank you blocks as part of the favors, but have no idea how much to get.

It's going to be a boy so I was planning on using 5-6 different colors.

Hi Justine,

How fun! According to my friends at Candyland Crafts an average lollipop mold takes about 1 ounce of chocolate.

Depending on how thick a coating you put on the pretzels, I think you may be able to get away with about 1 ounce each - so about 13 lbs. for 200 pretzels.

The same question comes into play for the molded Thank you chocolates. How big are the molds? If you think they are about 1 ounce cavities, the same principle would hold true for them.

I wish I could give you a more specific answer, but that's about the best I can do for you based on the information you've provided.

I'd LOVE to see your baby shower favors when you get them done. Please take pictures and add them to our Party Favor page.

Blessings,
Angie
