Homemade Chocolates Last...
by: Angie

Hi Christina and Mary Kaye,

Homemade chocolates last pretty well if they are kept at a moderate temperature. Chocolate covered nuts should easily keep several weeks if the temperature in your retail shop is not too warm.

If the plastic heart container is not air tight, you may want to place it in some clear cellophane for added protection to maintain freshness.

I hope you are able to sell a bunch! Take some photos and add them here. You can mention the name and address of your shop where these will be available, too. ;)

Happy Valentine's Day!

How long will chocolate covered pretzels stay good in a retail store that is kept between 68 and 72 degrees in a very dry climate?

How Long Will Chocolate Covered Pretzels Stay Fresh?
by: Angie

My guess would be at least a good month under those conditions. I've kept them longer than that at home.

Are the pretzels completely covered in chocolate or do they have some exposed portions?

Your greatest challenge will be the freshness of the pretzel itself, not the chocolate. The chocolate will last indefinitely in that environment.

But you'll want to be sure that the pretzel doesn't get a stale taste to it. If I were you, I'd make a large batch and then taste one every week until you determine they just aren't high enough quality to sell. :)

That seems to be the safest option - real-life experience.

P.S. Don't forget to take our survey for candy sellers.
