How long will chocolate lollipops stay fresh for?
I want to do chocolate lollipops for my baby shower at the end of April. If I start now, will they still be fresh?
Hi Veronica,
First of all, congratulations on your upcoming birth!! What a blessing!
Yes, you can make the chocolate molded lollipops now and they will still be fresh for your baby shower.
After you make them and wrap them in their little cellophane bags, place them all in an airtight container and store them in a fairly moderate temperature that isn't going to fluctuate much.
Even though you are in Florida, hopefully it won't be too hot before your shower so you shouldn't have to worry about the temperature.
I don't suggest that you refrigerate or freeze them because you may end up with discoloration on the chocolate lollipops from the moisture and condensation.
They'll keep fine at room temperature as long as it isn't extreme. Also, be sure to keep them away from strong smells - onions, scented candles, etc., because they will absorb the smell of what is around them.
So, how long will chocolate lollipops stay fresh? Really, the answer varies on environment, but usually several months at the least.
If you haven't purchased your supplies yet, you can find everything you need from the chocolate melts (even in colors for "painting" in the details), lollipop sticks, cellophane wrappers, to a nice selection of molds at
Candyland Crafts.
I love their candy making supplies, and they are very inexpensive.
We'd love to see your finished molded lollipops when you get them made. Take a photo and show them off on our
molded chocolates page.
Have fun, and blessings on your new little one.
