The Perfect Fudge Brownie Recipe

Having trouble finding the best fudge brownie recipe? Well look no more!

To truly master the art of brownies you must first master that one perfect recipe, and from there the brownie making possibilities are endless.

The biggest difference between ordinary chocolate brownies and these fudge brownies is the chocolate!

Ordinarily I use cocoa powder in my everyday basic chocolate brownies but with these special fudge brownies I use one of my grandmothers old gooey tricks...melted chocolate!

Adding melted chocolate into a brownie mix makes a delightful difference.

You end up with a thicker and more moist center that provides the whole "fudge effect."

If you are a fudge lover and a brownie lover, fudge brownies give you the best of both worlds. You can always treat yourself to a gourmet brownie splurge, but with the recipe below, you can make your own fudge brownies any time you like and save yourself a lot of money. :)

The Perfect Fudge Brownie Recipe

Before you get started, prep your oven to 350° F. I also always like to get the baking dish all greased up and ready to go so the batter can go directly from bowl to pan without skipping a beat.

Use approximately 1 Tbs of butter to grease your baking dish and set aside. I prefer 9 or 10 inch square glass dish.

The ingredients you will need are:

  • 3/4 cup of flour
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter (you can also use margarine but make sure it's soft)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs (lightly beaten)
  • 1/2 Tsp of kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp of vanilla
  • 2 squares of unsweetened baking chocolate

  1. Make sure to melt the baking chocolate so the consistency of the batter stays smooth, but allow the melted chocolate to cool some before adding it in.

  2. As always, you should start by mixing in all the dry ingredients together first, so that would be your flour, sugar, and salt.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine the melted chocolate, butter, eggs, and vanilla, and stir gently until smooth.

  4. After you are happy with the chocolate mixture, slowly fold in the dry ingredients and mix well.

I don't own a standing mixer or even a hand mixer so I've gotten used to doing it all by hand, and to be honest, I prefer it that way. There is just something about knowing you actually did it all by hand that makes it extra satisfying.

  5. After your batter is complete this is where you can get a little creative. I usually go through my cabinets and see what I can throw in for a little kick. You can look for different varieties of nuts, some dried fruits, and even sprinkles, which happen to be my sons favorite. We call those rainbow fudge brownies!

My all time favorite is pistachios, but those can be pricey sometimes. But, if you have them, use them! Fold in about 1 cup of chopped nuts (whichever you like), but make sure not to over mix the batter once you add your special ingredient because you don't want to overwork your batter.

  6. Evenly spread your mixture into your greased pan and throw them right in the oven. Bake for around 30 minutes. You don't want them to be too dense because fudge brownies are supposed to have that melted gooey center so when you feel that the center is fully cooked then pull them out.

For me, nothing is better than a helping of these fudge brownies while they're still warm. To make them even better drop, a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top of your fudge brownie with a drizzle of caramel and you have a treat everyone will love.

I promise you that this fudge brownie recipe will be one you will keep on hand for that upcoming bake sale or just a rainy weekend with the kids. Enjoy!
