First Time Lollipop Maker

First Time Lollipop Maker that Needs Help!

I'm a first time lollipop maker who is making 150 baby rattle lollipops for my daughter's (twin girls) shower on January 16, 2011. When should I start making them?

Hi Diane,

I think it's great that you are going to make baby rattle lollipops for your daughter's baby shower favors.

Twins! How wonderful! I always wanted to have twins myself. I'm sure they'll be a handful, but oh so much fun, too. :)

The closer you can make them to the date, the better, but I can imagine that you don't want the added hustle and bustle around the holidays.

If you can manage to make them around the beginning of December, that should be late enough. Just keep the finished lollipops in a cool dry place and away from any strong odors.

Don't worry. It really isn't that difficult to make chocolate lollipops for favors. If you want to make them multi-colored, you can "paint" in the details on your molds with a new little paintbrush and melted chocolate. Let that set before adding the next layer of color, etc.

You'll find colored candy melts, molds, lollipop sticks, cellophane bags/wrappers and anything else you might need at Candyland Crafts.

Be sure to take some photos and show them off to us when you're finished. We LOVE seeing your work! Just add them on our chocolate molds page.

Have fun!
Angie

I am making a simple molded chocolate lollipop. I have made about 50 so far and then I started to find that when I would take them out of the freezer they would be cracked. WHY????????

THANKS!!

Cracking Chocolate On Lollipops NEW
by: Angie

Hi Missy,

I'm guessing that your chocolate lollipops are cracking because you have frozen them for too long. If it's cool enough in your home, just let them set at room temperature. No need to freeze them at all.

If you feel you must freeze them, don't leave the lollipops in the freezer for so long. Just give them 5 or 10 minutes.

What's the special occasion that you are making so many lollipops for? Take some photos and show off your chocolate lollipops for us. We'd love to see them. You can add them to the chocolate candy making molds page. :)

Blessings,
Angie
