Do you have a recipe for a chocolate bar???

by Meettu
(Kochi, Kerala, India)

Hi Angie,

Thank you. Now my candy is more firm..

Just wanted to know one thing..

For making moulded chocolate is it necessary that I should buy chocolate initially???

Can I use the candy from the basic chocolate candy recipe, melt it and mould???

Thank You
Meettu

Hi Meettu,

I'm glad to hear you were able to get your chocolates more firm.

To be honest, I don't know if that would work to make a chocolate bar, but I really doubt it. You do generally have to start with some type of chocolate like bars or chips or pieces, to make molded chocolates.

I'm not saying it is impossible, just that I haven't done it. :-) I guess I usually go for the easiest and quickest method!

Making chocolate from scratch is a very long and drawn out process from the cocoa bean to the finished product. There are people that do it and find it fascinating.

I'm more fascinated by eating it!!!

I've never really found a recipe that could produce a typical chocolate bar without starting with chocolate as one of the main ingredients.

Here's a thought... If you are happy with the results of that recipe you are using, why not just pour it into the mold as it is cooling instead of on the tray? That way you will have the shape you want with a taste you like.

Why don't you give it a try and then let me know how it works out. I'll be interested in knowing the results.

Blessings,
Angie
