The rich taste of dark chocolate truffles is a satisfying reward for any occasion of life.
As a child, I recall just the phrase "chocolate truffles" made me think of rich people that could spoil themselves with whatever they liked. :)
Oh, the fantasies of youth! Maybe only the rich can indulge regularly, but surely most of us can treat ourselves or a loved one occasionally with a gourmet selection of mouthwatering truffles from some place like zChocolat.com or from one of these other mouthwatering choices.
Don't worry, if they are completely out of your league at ALL times, or if you just want to do-it-yourself, you can prepare your own truffles with this recipe so you can nibble as you go.
Place chocolate in a bowl and set aside. Heat whipping cream over medium heat until steaming, stirring constantly. Pour over chocolate and let set covered for 5 minutes.
Uncover and mix well until smooth. Add butter and vanilla and stir through.
Chill for about 1-2 hours until firm enough to form into balls. Form 1" balls and roll in desired topping.
What could be easier, except, of course, ordering them online? :)
If you really want to go all out, prepare some tempered chocolate and dip the balls in that to form a nice firm chocolate shell. You can still sprinkle them with nuts, etc., before the chocolate sets.
Enjoy! But don't get carried away and make yourself sick. Oh, there I go talking to myself again - oops!
