Crunchy Chocolate Marshmallow Puffs

chocolate covered marshmallows with colored sprinklesCrunchy Chocolate Marshmallow Puffs are a delicious combination of chocolate, marshmallow, and pecans that will have you reaching for just one more bite.

This a really easy recipe to make. You may even consider preparing it with the kids. If they don't like pecans, simply substitute another type of chopped nuts or even colored sprinkles or jimmies for a party flair. You will find those and other candy confetti shapes at Candyland Crafts.

It is simple recipes like this one that make it easy for you to create a little something special for your family and friends without feeling out of your league.

marshmallows dipped in chocolate with sprinklesWith a few minor alterations, this chocolate candy recipe can be designed to match any holiday or occasion. Just think, you could use red and green sprinkles at Christmas time, pink and white jimmies at Valentine's Day, green shamrock candy confetti at St. Patrick's Day... ...you get the idea.

An there is no rule that says you have to completely coat the marshmallow. You could simply dip them in half way if you prefer.

Perhaps it will even become a family tradition that your kids will make for your grandchildren one day. What fun! Okay, without further ado...

Crunchy Chocolate Marshmallow Puffs

  • 2 cups of chocolate chips
  • 1 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 7 ounce jar of marshmallow cream
  • 40 large Jet Puffed marshmallows (yes, you can use the generic)
  • 3-4 cups of coarsely chopped pecans or other nuts

  1. Combine chocolate chips, condensed milk, and marshmallow cream in a medium saucepan and heat on low heat stirring until melted. Do not overheat.

Alternately, you could use a microwave safe bowl and heat at medium power in 1 minute intervals, stirring each time until just melted.

  2. When mixture is smooth, dip each marshmallow, one at a time in the melted chocolate. It is easier if you use a skewer or dipping fork.

  3. Tap off excess chocolate and roll into chopped nuts to completely cover.

  4. Place on a wax paper lined tray and chill until set.

Additional tips: If chocolate starts to thicken too much, just gently warm it up again the same way you did originally.

Crunchy Chocolate Marshmallow Puffs can be stored in an airtight container. Some people like to keep them in the refrigerator if you are keeping them for any length of time. (They don't LAST any length of time at my house!)
