Correcting Caramel Corn That Is Too Sticky
by Making Caramel Popcorn
Need some advice on correcting caramel corn that is too sticky.
I used a new recipe for caramel corn (online) and apparently did not microwave the caramel long enough.
I want the caramel corn to be harder. Is there a solution (other than making it all over again) to making it less sticky?
Dear Making Caramel Popcorn,
Mmmmmmm! I love caramel popcorn, but it is absolutely so addictive that I literally make myself sick on it. That doesn't mean I don't make it and eat it - I just don't do it too often! :)
I've made the microwave caramel popcorn before, and I do know what you mean about it being too sticky sometimes.
What I've done and what should work for you, too, is to line a baking tray with waxed paper or baking paper and spread the caramel corn on top.
Then just pop it in a warm oven (about 250° F. or so) and heat it for about 30 minutes. I like to stir it half way through to be sure it all gets good exposure to the heat, etc.
Let me know if that does the trick for you as well. Boy, sure wish I was there to share some with you!
Blessings,
Angie
