Diane's chocolate gift tray was a really nice gesture, wasn't it?!
I'm sure the assistant principal would have been thrilled to get it. I wonder if he was able to make it off the school grounds with any left! :)
It's simple and inexpensive gestures like this one that really do make a difference to people in unexpected ways. A thoughtful bit of kindness can really make someone's day and encourage them through a difficult time. You may not even know they are needing it, but you could really be a blessing.
When I was Bible college, the pastor of the church used to say, "Be good to everybody, because everybody is having a tough time."
That's really true. I've heard stories of people who were at the end of their rope and along came someone (who didn't even know it) with a kind and thoughtful action and it made all the difference in the world to the person.
This little kindness of the tray of chocolate covered pretzels also reminds me of my own dear mother. She used to bring little treats to the girls who worked as the tellers at her bank - maybe a jar of honey from our bees, or some such thing.
The ladies really appreciated that and were always so kind and helpful to my mom in return. It's a practice that I learned from my mom and continue to this day.
Who knows? Maybe Diane's son will be influenced by his mother's example to also carry on the tradition of doing a little something extra for those people in his life with whom he interacts. Another generation - making a sweet difference! :)
My mom got me into this one! She made it (with my sisters and I) for Christmas a few years back. I will never forget that day! We had a blast in the kitchen.
