Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls Are Too Soft!

by Shannon

The insides of my chocolate peanut butter balls are too soft.

My chocolate coating turns out perfect. But I noticed that sometimes the peanut butter filling turns out too soft sometimes.

I like my peanut butter filling more on the stiffer side. I use the same ingredients every time, so I'm not sure why this happens.

Hi Shannon,

All you really need to do to make your sure your chocolate peanut butter balls aren't too soft is increase the amount of powdered sugar that you use.

Start by adding a little extra at a time and then mix well, adding more until you get a really stiff mixture to your liking.

I haven't made any chocolate peanut butter balls yet this year and now I've got the craving! :)

How about crushed Pretzels?
by: Angie from

Hi Carol,
The rice krispies and graham cracker crumbs are both great ideas to try. They would each give the traditional peanut butter balls an interesting twist and flavor.

I've added crushed pretzels in the past and they were very scrumptious. The salt and pretzel flavor go really well with the peanut butter and chocolate!

Problem with soft PB balls
by: Carol

I noticed this for the first time about 1 1/2 years ago. I have the perfect recipe but suddenly it's wasn't working I think the peanut butter companies have made changes. The problem with adding more confectioners auger is that they get sweeter and the peanut butter taste is less. Has anyone added graham cracker crumbs or rice Krispy crumbs?
