Chocolate Peanut Butter Apples

chocolate appleChocolate Peanut Butter Apples are just one more way to indulge in the delicious taste of chocolate covered apples.

Peanut butter just brings it into the third dimension. There are always new ways to enjoy old favorites if you have a little ingenuity.

You may wonder how in the world you will get the peanut butter on the apple. That is why they invented peanut butter chips!

You can order gourmet apples at Harry and David, MrsFields.com, or the Cookie HQ. To be perfectly honest, although they have mouthwatering chocolate and caramel apples, I haven't seen chocolate peanut butter apples.

Believe it or not, the only place I could locate them at was under chocolate apples on ebay.

I thought I would just throw that out there for those who are looking for something a little more special than making them yourself. Although, I think that can be special too, depending on who's helping. :)

This simple recipe for chocolate peanut butter apples is easy to make. The kids will love it. Combining the delicious sweet and crunchy taste of healthy apples with a scrumptious tempting coating makes this treat a favorite.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Covered Apples

  • 6-8 medium size apples
  • 6-8 wooden skewers
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup peanut butter chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Wash apples and dry thoroughly. Insert a wooden skewer into each apple and set aside.

Combine both cups of chips and vegetable oil in the top of a double boiler or in a heavy saucepan. Melt over low heat stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat.

Dip apples in mixture. Tilt the pan as needed. Twirl apple to remove excess coating; place apples on wax paper covered cookie sheet. Chill until firm.

There are several other combinations of yummy covered apples. You may also want to try chocolate covered apples, or chocolate covered caramel apples. Let your imagination run wild!
