Chocolate Fingers

Chocolate Fingers by StarrGazr

Chocolate Fingers by StarrGazr

Here's a way to make chocolate fingers without using a chocolate mold. Instead you use pretzel rods. The chocolate combined with the saltiness of the pretzels is a "scary" combination.

Items needed:

  • Pretzel Rods
  • White chocolate melts, chips or pieces
  • Candy corn
  • Thin black licorice ropes

  1. Use large pretzel sticks cut in half.

  2. Dip the each pretzel half in melted white chocolate (I use Wilton Vanilla candy melts) and place on wax paper.

  3. Get candy corn and put one on the top end of the pretzel finger.

  4. Put them in the freezer for 5 minutes, remove from freezer, take black licorice string and tie around pretzel finger.

Great idea to get the chocolate finger effect. You could also use other regular chocolate or colored melts like in the photo above by StarrGazr on Flickr. There's another "recipe" there that explains how to make the chocolate pretzel fingers shown in the picture.

For the finger nail you could use slivered almonds. If you want them colored you could dab them with a bit of food coloring for special effects and make them as spooky as you like.

Problems

The directions you have listed are not to make the pretzels as shown in the photograph.

Secondly, the photo is not properly attributed. In order to use this photograph, you must link back to the original photo on Flicker (which also happens to include the real instructions.

Thanks for the Chocolate Fingers "Pointer"
by: Angie

Hi Starrgazr,

Thanks for discovering this discrepancy with the recipe/photo and also going to the trouble to locate the "real" recipe that matches it.

We get submissions all the time from visitors and I don't always know the source of the photos or recipes. I generally just accept people's word if I don't 'catch' a blatant copy and paste. :-)

I'll pop over to the link you've provided and see if we can either get the proper instructions and keep using the photo or just remove the photo.

Thanks again for taking the time "pointing" this out. (Sorry, couldn't resist the pun).

Cheers,
Angie

Oh, it's YOUR photo!
by: Angie

Hi again Starrgazr,

I just realized upon looking at the page further that it's YOUR photo that has been submitted (I assume from the caption).

So, what would you like to do? Would you like me to remove the photo, or are you happy to share the "real" instructions here for anyone on the lookout for creepy chocolate fingers? :)

Let me know!
Thanks,
Angie

Fixed the Chocolate Pretzel Finger Photo

Okay! I've added the link to the photo and accompanying instructions. Still, if you'd like to include your own tips here, go right ahead. We'd love to have them!

Thanks again for letting me know of the problem. :)
