Chocolate Dipped Pretzels Recipe

Chocolate Dipped PretzelsPhoto by Joyce (TsaiWare)

This chocolate dipped pretzels recipe is one of my favorite chocolate candy treats to assemble. It is so very easy to make, and yet the result is a sweet delight that everyone loves.

I love to dress up chocolate dipped pretzel rods with the "extras" that really make them special.

If you want more than a recipe, but want the pretzels already prepared and ready to devour, no problem.

Just take a look at some of wonderful pretzels available. Some of them are very affordable and classy looking, too.

You can even get bite-sized chocolate covered pretzel balls at if that's more to your liking.

Make Your Own Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

This chocolate dipped pretzels recipe is so simple to make. You may find yourself turning to it repeatedly when you want to satisfy that sweet and salty craving we all get from time to time.

  1. Start out by choosing your chocolate. You can use something as simple as a bag of chocolate chips or a block of cooking chocolate. If you really want to make them extra good and more "gourmet," choose a higher quality chocolate with a high cocoa content. Mmmmmm!

  2. You'll find really delicious chocolate for candy making at Candyland Crafts. They have the very popular Wilbur Wafers and even sugar free nuggets and wafers. Candy making chocolate is really quite good and works well for melting and covering, making the whole process quite easy.

In a double boiler, melt chocolate and 1-2 tablespoons of Crisco shortening over medium heat, stirring until melted and smooth.

  3. Dip pretzels in chocolate and place on waxed paper covered tray to set. Chill in refrigerator for 5-10 minutes if desired.

If you are dipping regular pretzels, use a dipping fork or tweezers to raise them from the chocolate. If you are making chocolate dipped pretzel rods, you can leave one end clear of chocolate to make a convenient handle. :)

Decorating Ideas:

Decorate your chocolate dipped pretzels with crushed nuts, coconut, crushed mints, or colored sprinkles. Be sure to sprinkle on your topping before the chocolate sets.

Another decorating idea is to use contrasting colored melted chocolate to drizzle across your dipped pretzels for an even nicer look.

If you would like to use these delicious treats as party favors, you can order perfect little cellophane favor bags and twist ties or ribbons at Candyland Crafts for next to nothing.

Store your chocolate dipped pretzels in an airtight container. They will last for several weeks - if you hide them, especially from yourself! :)
