Chocolate Almond Christmas Candy

chocolate almond candy A new friend of mine introduced me to this wonderful Chocolate Almond Christmas Candy recipe. Christine whipped up a batch and even took some photos so you could see how scrumptious they look.

These yummy little bites are full of flavor and often become a family favorite. Maybe you will be starting a new tradition this year with this tasty holiday treat.

You can get the little paper cups as well as chocolate and other supplies for candy making at Candyland Crafts. You'll be delighted with their large selection. One Stop Candle also has some very nice candy making supplies.

If you really want to make your Christmas candy stand out above the usual, consider using gourmet chocolate in your recipes. You will find a variety of choices at the Chocolate Source.

Chocolate Almond Christmas Candy

melted chocolate

1/4 cup margarine
2 cups powdered sugar
2 cups finely chopped almonds
1/4 cup half and half (cream)
6-8 oz semisweet chocolate chips
2 tsp shortening
Candy paper cups

Melt margarine and stir in the powdered sugar, almonds and cream. Chill to make mixture easier to roll into balls. (Can be chilled over night if desired).

Melt chocolate chips and shortening in double boiler over low heat stirring until melted and smooth. (Chocolate and shortening can be melted in the microwave by heating at medium heat, stirring every 30 seconds until melted. Do not over heat).

Spoon melted chocolate into paper cups, until half full. Form chilled mixture into balls and press one in each of the cups causing the chocolate to rise a bit on the sides.

If you want to add additional decoration, you could place an almond sliver in the top of each ball or drizzle chocolate over the top. You could use cocoa or candy sprinkles to add to the look. Use your imagination and have some fun.

These Chocolate Almond Christmas Candies are very similar to some chocolate almond truffle recipes I have seen. They look almost as good as they taste. Indulge yourself, and have a very merry Christmas!
