Carob Recipe Needed

I am looking for a carob recipe that contains sunflower seeds, chopped peanuts, and raisins. Do you know of one?

I used to have a recipe 20 years ago, when my kids were young, but I seem to have misplaced it. It was a drop cookie recipe. I remember using carob chips melted with margarine or butter, I added sunflower seeds, raisins, and chopped peanuts (the kind you buy in the grocery already chopped in the cooking section with your coconut).

I just can't remember the amounts and was wondering if you might have a recipe like this one.

A Carob Cookie or Candy Recipe
by: Angie

Hi Bev,

I've not seen that exact recipe, but I've had a look around to see what I could find. You might try one of these carob cookie or candy recipes.

Carob Candy Drops

  • 1 cup carob chips
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup raisins

  1. Combine chips and water in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir until completely melted.

  2. Add oats, nuts, and raisins, and stir well to combine thoroughly. (I don't see why you can't add your sunflower seeds here - maybe 1/4 cup)

  3. Drop mixture by spoonfuls onto waxed paper to set. Store finished candy in an airtight container.

Carob Cookies

  • 1 1/4 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/3 c. butter
  • 1/3 c. honey
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 c. carob chips
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts
  • 3/4 c. raisins
  • 1/4 - 1/2 c. sunflower seeds

  1. Cream together the butter, honey, vanilla, and egg. Set aside.

  2. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda and add it to the creamed mixture, blending well.

  3. Stir in the carob chips, nuts, raisins, and sunflower seeds.

  4. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
