Can Buckeye Candy Balls Be Frozen?

by Barb
(Ohio)

Can buckeye candy balls be frozen? Will that affect the quality when thawed?

I'm using dipping or melting chocolate rather than the chocolate chips & paraffin.

Also, should they be thawed out covered or uncovered?

Hi Barb,

I've frozen my homemade Buckeye candy before, and I thought they tasted great.

If you are making them for a special occasion, there's always the possibility that you may get a little bloom on the chocolate.

I would suggest thawing them covered to help reduce the chances of condensation build up on the candy, which leads to that gray/white bloom.

Yum! I haven't thought of Buckeye chocolate peanut butter balls in months. I'm really craving them now! :)
