Blonde Brownies With Love

There are some desserts that are worth the extra effort and for me these blonde brownies are no exception!

The only thing better then the perfect blonde brownie is the satisfaction of being able to share this simple pleasure with friends and family.

Recently I went to a friends housewarming party and I wanted to bring something extra special that wasn't the typical bottle of wine, so I made these simple homemade treats using a blondie brownie recipe that my mother taught me.

It wasn't just the brownies that won them over but also the presentation.

Blondie Brownie Recipe

To make these simple delights you will need the following ingredients:

  • 2 cups brown sugar (brown is always best with blonde brownies)
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 2 lightly beaten eggs
  • 1 1/2 sticks of melted butter (3/4 cup)
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp of vanilla flavor
  • 1 bag of butterscotch chip candies (the little kiss morsels work best!)
  • your favorite chopped nuts (optional)

  1. To start, pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.

  2. In a bowl, mix together all of the ingredients except the butterscotch candies. When the batter is evenly mixed, spread into a greased 9" baking dish.

  3. Once your batter is evenly spread in the pan, cover the top of the brownies with the butterscotch morsels (and nuts, if desired). It works better to add them as the last step to ensure that every bite of these treats will have the butterscotch treatment!

  4. Bake for about 30 minutes but make sure to check after 25 minutes because you don't want them to be too brown.

  5. Once they are cooled cut into mini squares, I used mini squares for this gift because it was a much cuter presentation.

What I did was a wrap these mini brownies in plain plastic sandwich bags and tied them off with a little bit of ribbon. Next is where you can great really creative!

I went to the local craft store and purchased little white Chinese take out boxes which are rather inexpensive (you can find ones with designs but I found it more fun to decorate them myself!)

I made 7 separate baggies of mini brownies and put one baggie into it's own take out box. I painted the days of the week on the outside of the boxes (Sunday-Saturday) and the card I included said "One special box for each special day of your first week in your new home!"

Of course, you can decorate them however you wish. These blonde brownies make the perfect gift for any house warming party, baby shower, or even "just because."

There is no better way to show someone you care than to give them something that is simply homemade with lots of love!
