70% Cocoa Chocolate

by Ria
(Upstate NY)

I've been watching the foodnetwork channel. Many of the chefs recommend using chocolate containing 70% cocoa (such as Belgian chocolate) when making chocolate candies, cakes, and frostings.

Is there a good online store where I can purchase this kind of chocolate by the lb?

Thank you so much for your time.
Marie

Hi Ria,

Are you looking for 70% cocoa chocolate in powder form or solid, like bars or pieces?

I think you'll find some good choices at....

Hope you can find what you are looking for.

70% Chocolate
by: Julie

I'm wondering if those are still the best places that you know of to find the 70% dark chocolate. I'm looking for the solid kind of chocolate, too, for candy making.

70% Dark Chocolate
by: Angie

Hi Julie,

Yes, those are still the places I'd look for what you are after. I know that Mother Nature carries a nice variety of chocolate bars by Chocolove and they range from 33% cocoa up to 70% cocoa in a number of sorts - plain and flavored alike.

They also have a brand called Divine Chocolate, which I haven't yet tried, but it is 70% cocoa as well. Once I had a good look around, they also carry Scharffen Berger, Green & Black's, Theo Chocolate (which is organic), and various cocoa powders as well.

Ria was looking to buy the solid chocolate by the pound, but even Candy.com mentioned above, which tends to sell a lot in bulk, still mostly offers the dark chocolate in individual bars, so you'd need about 5 in most cases to make up a pound. :)

They have a really nice selection, too, including a sugar free 70% dark chocolate bar. So it really depends on what you are looking for and how much you need and how much you want to spend. I'd suggest browsing through those suggested sites and getting an idea of what's on offer and the price ranges so you'll know what you're dealing with.

Happy New Year!
